Tunbridge Wells Exterior Painting Services
Stucco and Rendered Facades
Stucco-rendered Regency properties on Calverley Park and The Pantiles area require breathable mineral or silicate-based coatings. Standard masonry paint seals the surface, traps moisture, and causes render to crack within a few seasons. We also offer dedicated deck painting services.
We assess the render condition before quoting. Loose sections are hacked back and re-rendered. Cracks are filled with flexible exterior filler. We also offer dedicated door painting services.
Stone and Sandstone Properties
Sandstone and ragstone properties in Rusthall and the High Weald villages need a lime-compatible approach. We use breathable mineral or limewash-based products where stone is the primary facade material. We also offer dedicated fence painting services.
Painted Weatherboarding
High Weald cottages in Speldhurst and Langton Green frequently feature painted weatherboarding. We use flexible exterior products rated for timber movement, and specify a primer appropriate for the existing coating type. We also offer dedicated front door painting services.
Sash Windows and Exterior Woodwork
Sash windows on Regency and Edwardian properties are often original joinery. We strip back to sound timber, address any rot, prime correctly, and apply a durable exterior finish. For a full project, see our house painting page. We also offer dedicated window frame painting services.
Ironwork, Railings, and Gates
Ornamental ironwork on Regency townhouses requires rust treatment before any paint is applied. We use a specialist inhibitor primer before top-coating. Skipping the inhibitor primer is the most common reason ironwork paint fails early. We also offer dedicated masonry painting services.

Our Exterior Painting Process
1. Site Assessment
We visit and examine every surface, checking surface type, existing coating condition, render soundness, and biological growth. We also offer dedicated shed painting services.
2. Surface Preparation
Surfaces are cleaned of moss, lichen, and loose material. Render is repaired where needed. Timber is stripped to sound material. We also offer dedicated wood painting services.
3. Priming
Stucco gets a breathable mineral primer. Bare timber gets a specialist timber primer. Ironwork gets a rust-inhibiting primer.
4. Paint Application
Exterior coatings need dry conditions and temperatures above 5 degrees C. Two finish coats are standard. High-exposure surfaces get a third.
5. Inspection and Completion
Once the final coat has cured, we inspect all surfaces in good light. Touch-ups are done before we leave the site.
